Don’t Do These 9 Things if You Want to Reach Your Goals

1. Wait until January: Setting a goal to start 3, 4, 6 months away is an excuse. Doing so you’re wasting valuable time that could be used to prepare for those goals for seamless implementation by January. Start making small transitions today towards the life you want.

2. Take on too much at once: Rather than making a complete 360 degree transition into a new lifestyle shaking everything up at once. Take it one step at a time. It is better to make a few adjustments making them a big priority, rather than changing everything, making nothing a big priority ultimately sacrificing your effectiveness.

3. Create goals that aren’t measurable: When you create goals, emphasize realistic, measurable, steps creating an actionable plan to pursue your intentions. Be as specific as possible.

4. Keep your goals a secret: When you announce your goals aloud you create a form of accountability, helping you stay on track to reach your desired outcomes.

5. Forget to check in: When you set goals, revisit them, OFTEN, keeping yourself accountable, reevaluating how the process is going. See what needs to change, or improve will keep you on track.

6. Talk about your goals: BE ABOUT THEM…Write them down, place them as a screensaver on your phone post them where you can visibly see them EVERY DAY.

7. Focus on the goals themselves: Master the process, treating the underlying cause rather than just the symptoms and you will have a greater lasting effect leading to a higher rate for sustainability.

8. Change your dreams based on the opinions of others: Surround yourself with people who are going to push you toward your goals, not ones that hold you back, or bring you down.

9. Let one setback take you out of the game: If you have an off moment don’t let it ruin all of your progress. Celebrate the wins, count backwards from 5 and get your head back in the game. A little snowfall doesn’t need to be an avalanche. Dust yourself off and try again.
